CPS Admin Officer Apprentice (Level 3)
Job Description
The Admin Officer Apprentice serves as a critical pillar within a prosecution team, ensuring the seamless execution of the justice process. This role does not require a background in law; rather, it demands exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to public service.
Primary Responsibilities
- Case Progression: Management of digital evidence, including CCTV, body-worn footage, and witness statements, ensuring accessibility for legal counsel prior to trial.
- Witness Liaison: Serving as a primary point of contact for victims and witnesses to assist in navigating court schedules and requirements.
- Court Support: Compilation and preparation of “digital bundles” for proceedings in both Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.
- Team Coordination: Handling general enquiries and managing office rotas to maintain operational efficiency.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) offers the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship. This is a 18 to 24-month commitment combining practical work with formal study.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of two GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), specifically including English and Maths.
- Nationality: Adherence to Civil Service nationality rules (UK, Irish, or Commonwealth citizens).
- Security: Successful completion of BPSS clearance.
- Commitment: Dedicate 6 hours per week (20% of hours) to “off-the-job” training and portfolio development.
- Age: Minimum 16 years; no upper age limit.
