Job Description
The Government Economic Service (GESDAP) and the Government Social Research (GSRDAP) degree apprenticeships offer a premier pathway into the Civil Service. These programs combine professional employment with higher education, allowing participants to earn a full honors degree from the University of Kent while working at the heart of government policy. Participants are trained to reach Grade 7 professional status within four to five years, bypassing traditional graduate entry routes.

Focuses on applying economic theory and numerical analysis to address national challenges like housing, inflation, and climate change.
Qualification: BSc (Hons) Economics.
Structure: 4 days departmental work (e.g., HM Treasury, DfE) + 1 day academic study.
Remuneration: Min £27,252 (National) | Min £30,740 (London).
2. Government Social Research Degree Apprenticeship (GSRDAP)
Analyzes the human impact of government policy through data, surveys, and focus groups to determine service effectiveness.
Qualification: BA (Hons) Applied Social Research.
Technical Skills: Training in qualitative interviewing, data coding (R/Python), and survey design.
Remuneration: Min £27,380 (National) | Min £29,722 (London).

Requirements and Qualifications
- Academic: Minimum 96 UCAS points (CCC at A-Level equivalent). General Studies excluded.
- GCSEs: At least five, including Maths (Grade 6/B) and English Language (Grade 4/C).
- GESDAP Constraint: Ineligible if >50% of any prior qualification is in Economics.
- Residency: Must have resided in the UK for at least 3 consecutive years prior to start.
- Age: Minimum 16 years; no upper limit (suitable for career changers).

- Personal Statement: 1,000-word submission focusing on motivation and managing the 80/20 work-study split.
- Virtual Assessment Centre: Written policy brief analysis, competency interview, and presentation task.
